What are your names?
Mike and Lucy. (Lucy does not prefer to be included in the photo, so you only get Mike’s smiling face. She’d prefer to remain a phantom.)
What are your kids names?
Sarah, Eric and Bekki (and “baby” Boudreau to be identified at the end of May)
When did you first start coming to Redeemer Fellowship?
What is your or your family’s favorite spot in Newark? (Restaurant/park etc)
Love the trails of White Clay Creek, particularly from the Paper Mill parking lot.
Also, LOVE UD Creamery and Blizzards at DQ.
Are you a Blue Hen (did you graduate from UD)? Yes/No If not, where did you graduate from?
Our son is a BH, but we’re not. Mike graduated from Assumption College in MA & Lucy graduated from KeepMikeinLIne University.
What do you (and your spouse) do for work? What do you like about it?
Lucy has the best official job title – Director of First Impressions – for Siberlich-Trane Energy Services. She’s VERY customer service-orientated so helping people gives her the most satisfaction.
Mike works for the American Society of Transplantation. He likes the fact that he is helping advocate (indirectly) for transplant patients and their support team get the medical support they need for survival.
If you are married, how long have you been married? How did you meet?
We’ve been married 42 years (Wow! We are getting old!). We met at work. Mike thought Lucy was engaged because he misread (typical male) her opal ring as an engagement ring, but the Lord woke me him to realize otherwise since He had other ideas, unknown to Mike.
What is your comfort food during a global pandemic?
Mike – Wendy’s Fries and Lucy’s homemade cookies (any kind will work). Wheat Thins are also magical too and have an amazingly positive affect on hisType 2 diabetes #’s.
Lucy’s – cheese (sharp cheddar) and crackers.
How and when did you become a Christian?
We accepted the Lord at the same time, around 1985. We wanted to raise our children in a “church” environment but weren’t sure where. Mike was raised Catholic and knew we didn’t want a traditional religious experience. Fortunately, we were introduced through our daughter’s pre-school teacher, to a church plant (sound familiar) that felt “like home” immediately. We formally accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior a few months later and were baptized after that.
What is your favorite bible verse or biblical truth?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
What do you love about being a part of Redeemer?
Hmmm, the preaching is challenging every week. It has rejuvenated – and challenged – us in so many ways. Thank you so much for that!!
The people welcomed us from day 1. We do feel part of a family! After visiting many churches in the area since moving here 6 years ago, this is NOT a common experience.
Are you from Delaware originally? If not, what brought you here and when?
We’re from MA originally and came to DE via MA thru MO thru NJ. We knew we wouldn’t (couldn’t?) retire in NJ (Mullica Hill) due to the expenses and both our kids had settled in the Newark area. Ultimately, it’s clear the Lord brought us here. So, about 6 years ago we move to Newark.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Can’t remember. Too long ago.
What is your favorite app on your phone today, and why?
Mike – It was Score Mobile until sports got canceled. I might say the Drudge Report, but that’s too unsettling to read now.
It was Block Tek (a type of Tetris game), but it was literally sinful how addicting it became. We both had to delete it from our phones.
What is your most practical life tip?
Don’t think for minute (I’ll give you a few seconds as a human) that you have any control over what happens in this life. But God IS in control, so take great relief in knowing that. Meanwhile, enjoy the ride…
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? Did you like it?
Mike – I went to Japan a few years ago and they took us to an authentic Japanese restaurant for a variety of dishes. I can’t honestly say I know what was in some of the dishes other than “meat”, but I am an adventuresome eater, so yes, I did like it.
