Meet the Nottages
April 22, 2020

What are your names?
Doug & Sheila.

When did you first start coming to Redeemer Fellowship?
December 2019.

What is your family’s favorite spot in Newark?
I think we’ve eaten at 4 restaurants in Newark but are searching for a good breakfast spot. The metro Diner is the best we have found so far. Please feel free to pass along recommendations!

Are you a Blue Hen (did you graduate from UD)? Yes/No If not, where did you graduate from?
Sheila – No I’m a female human (strange question)….. Seriously, I graduated from Millersville University of PA 🙂

What do you do for work? What do you like about it?
Doug – I am a photographer/videographer for American Bible Society. I enjoy traveling and getting to tell stories of how the Bible is changing people’s lives.

Sheila – My background is in accounting and business administration. I’m currently looking for my next job.

How long have you been married and how did you meet?
22 years in July. We don’t remember meeting but it was a church we were attending in Philadelphia.

What is your comfort food during global pandemic?
Doug – Kedem Grape Juice, Homemade Waffles, Snickerdoodles. Not all at the same time and I don’t know that the pandemic affected this list at all.

Sheila – Chocolate… though I don’t think the pandemic makes any difference.

How and when did you become a Christian?
Doug – My sister shared the gospel with me when I was a young boy.

Sheila – I was invited to church by a friend in high school. After many weeks of hearing the alter call and debating internally whether or not I agreed with the preachers assessment that I was a sinner, the Lord opened my eyes to my need for a Savior. I went down after the alter call one Sunday, and prayed the Sinner’s Prayer with a woman at the church.

What is your favorite bible verse or biblical truth?
Doug – “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” from Mark 2:17

Sheila – “Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:23-26

What do you love about being a part of Redeemer?
Doug – The Community. I love then intentionality of love another and living in community.

Sheila – You guys, silly 🙂

Are you from Delaware originally? If not, what brought you here and when?
No. We moved for a house and to be a part of Redeemer.

?
Doug – YNAB. Love this method of managing finances. It has been extremely helpful with priorities and budgeting.

What is your most practical life tip?
Sheila – Wash your hands… Also: Don’t die on every hill.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? Did you like it?
Doug – Sheep’s head. It was tasty.

Sheila – Probably oxtail or pigs feet. I like oxtail.
